This subject aims to develop and improve all German language skills by building on and complementing the skills acquired in previous language units. While this subject will continue to strengthen communicative competence in spoken German, the focus will be on grammar and translation skills for written language. Students' ability to appreciate cultural products of German speaking societies will be further enhanced.
Learning Outcomes
- a level of basic social proficiency (approximately 2 on the ISLPR scale). Students will: be able to interact on a social level with German people, participating in conversations where they are familiar with the context, demonstrate skills of debate and negotiation and comprehend normal speech from electronic sources in familiar contexts; be able to read authentic texts drawn from German media sources and express themselves in writing on a wide range of topics using complex sentences; and further develop their acquaintance with various aspects of German culture.
