Introduction to electrical signals (dc and ac) and electrical circuit theory. Electrical units and calculations used to apply them. Energy transformations in electric circuits containing resistors, capacitors and inductors. Theory and applications of ideal operational amplifiers. Ideal transformers.
Learning Outcomes
- a functional understanding of the relationships between voltage and current in linear electrical components;
- the capacity to discuss and apply electrical principles and analysis techniques in typical applications;
- accurate and efficient analysis of simple circuits operating under transitional and steady-state dc conditions;
- design skills leading to the realisation of simple curcuits to satisfy basic engineering specifications;
- clear and precise communication of problem, strategy and solution; professional standards in submission of all assessable material.
Assumed Knowledge: | This subject requires prior knowledge of Senior Mathematics B or MA1020 (or equivalent) OR Senior Mathematics C. |
