This subject is an introduction to teaching young children to year 3 through the ARTS which comprises five(5) strands - Visual Arts (Media and Visual Art) and Performing Arts (Dance, Drama, Music). Students will have opportunities to engage in and reflect upon the range of Arts learning experiences, develop resources which facilitate Active Learning Processes, and to extend the influence of the arts throughout schools and their communities.
Learning Outcomes
- students will critically explore curriculum trends in Arts education;
- students will engage in motivating, inclusive Active Learning Processes and appropriate pedagogies;
- students will explore a variety of appropriate media, modes and practical techniques;
- students will become aware of the unique ways of thinking and knowing which the Arts can provide, including the capacity to enhance communication and learner self esteem, as social and cultural signifiers and conduits for literacy and creative problem solving.
