Core subject for BEd (ECE) students.

This subject explores early childhood curriculum, pedagogy and development. It relates child development to the <i>Early Years Learning Framework</i> and Queensland's <i>Early Years Curriculum Guidelines</i> Early Learning Areas - Social and Personal Learning; Health and Physical Learning; Language Learning and Communication; Early Mathematical Understandings; and Active Learning Processes, and key components of effective early years curricula. Along with (10) half-days of professional experience, this subject examines play and other early childhood learning contexts to forge a link between theory and practice in early childhood settings.

Assumed knowledge in this subject includes an understanding of the development of the young child in terms of physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language development as studied in ED1481:03 Foundations of Educational Psychology.
