Available to Information Technology postgraduate and honours students only with the permission of the subject co-ordinator.
Students undertake a literature review of a nominated area of research and develop a research project proposal, on topics specified by IT staff. Students are taught how to analyse papers critically for relevance and significance and to identify potential research projects. They do a presentation and seminar on their literature review and on their research proposal and submit written reports on both.
Learning Outcomes
- appreciation of scientific research reporting methods;
- conduct a literature review of scientific research;
- determine from research papers relevance, significance and opportunities for further research;
- draft a research proposal;
- appreciation of scientific research methods.
