Students will be introduced to a variety of media in the visual arts through a series of practical exercises which are underpinned by key historical and theoretical principles. Building confidence through simple exercises using basic design fundamentals, students will begin to apply the resulting skills and knowledge to more complex creative problem solving activities.
Learning Outcomes
- develop an understanding of the visual arts and an appreciation of the role of the visual arts in the society;
- explore and gain confidence in the use of a variety of media and techniques in the visual arts;
- become familiar with the language of the visual arts in order to develop skills in appraisal and evaluation of its processes and products.
