The amount of work required is that associated with a 6 unit subject; approximately 240 hours of personal time. Students must undertake an original research project of a relevant issue to such a level that the outcome can be published. The student must negotiate supervision by academic staff within the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, obtain approval of research methodology from the SPHTM Research Committee and ethics approval from the JCU Ethics Committee before enrolment. The expected outcome is acceptance of the manuscript by a peer reviewed journal.
