Registered Australian Physiotherapist. Completion of an overseas recognised physiotherapy qualification. Completion of this subject within the degree Masters of Rehabilitation (Physiotherapy) will not enable Australian registration of overseas qualified physiotherapists.
Students enrolled in this subject will have access to some of Australia's foremost practitioners and medical specialists. Lectures from up to 10 expert practitioners will be recorded. The topics will focus on current trends and innovations in practice in their areas of specialisation. The range of topics will be useful to the rural clinician in Australia and overseas. Teaching guides will be used to help students identify their own learning needs and goals within the various topic areas. A short (four day) residential school will be an opportunity to share views on the topics and presentations, hear new presentations from local experts and to practice and learn new skills in some of the areas of work. Topics will include for example: medical imaging update; women's health issues and updates; lymphoedema management; tropical diseases; neurology and pain management. Assessment will be through demonstration of the application of three or four of the lectures to their own clinical practice in case study format.
Learning Outcomes
- critically review the evidence presented in lectures and demonstrations, with respect to their level of knowledge and understanding;
- plan and present their own learning contract for this subject around three or four lecture content topics;
- demonstrate their critical analysis skills in evaluation of the material and the published literature on the topics presented.
