This subject focuses on the principles of primary health care and health promotion within a global, international and national context.
Learning Outcomes
- appreciate the importance of social and economic factors in the provision of appropriate health care;
- critically appraise the potential of primary health care in health care developments of the future;
- describe the concepts of modern primary health care and apply them to a wide range of settings and groups;
- describe the principles of health promotion and outline strategies suitable for selected health issues in the communities;
- discuss the role of nurses, other health professionals and professionals from outside the health sector in health care planning and delivery within the primary health care framework.
