This subject expands the exposure of students to key concepts of lighting and studio practice for the photographic professional. The principles and practice gained through assignments in the genres of food and mixed lighting photography and working with medium format digital equipment can be readily transferred to a wide range of commercial and artistic applications. Students also develop an individual direction and perspective through the creation of a portfolio of studio based works. This in turn will facilitate confident integration into photographic workplaces and creative imaging environments.
Learning Outcomes
- mastery of lighting principles and practices relevant to the professional studio;
- studio workflow, including asset management and colour control;
- familiarisation with professional studio practice, including workplace health and safety and the correct operation of equipment;
- ability to interpret a client brief requiring studio practice.
