The aim of this unit is to equip medical practitioners to develop research skills and knowledge in the design and conduct of a research study relevant to their current medical practice. Students with a specific research idea will be guided through the process of developing a research plan. In particular they will develop skills in performing a literature review, developing a research hypothesis, and developing a protocol that addresses the hypothesis. The student will learn about ethical research and good clinical practice as it relates to the conduct of research. The student will be guided through the process of submission of an application to a relevant Human research ethics committee.
