Credit points: 03
Year: 2011
Student Contribution Band: Band 3
Administered by: School of Business

This subject provides insight into key aspects of the relationship between the individual and the workplace. Notions of personal and group identity are explored in relation to the changing nature of work and employment relationships. It takes a holistic approach to human relations, exploring various aspects of managers' behaviour both privately and at work and identifying their interdependence. The first part of the subject offers an opportunity to explore some of the psychological dimensions of human behaviour and leadership such as identity, personal values, motivation, self-esteem, emotional intelligence, and the management of intrapersonal, interpersonal and group effectiveness. The second part of the subject applies this knowledge to the examination of some of the current challenges for managers such as changing organisational forms, diversity of the global workplace, work-life balance, and personal career development.
