Available to students admitted to French Honours.
French Honours students complete this subject through studies in either the 20th-century novel, 20th-century poetry, 20th-century theatre, or Literature and Cinema, by agreement with staff in the discipline and the approval of the Head of School.
Learning Outcomes
- To improve students' ability to read and write French; to develop their understanding of idiom, nuance and suggestion in French language and culture; to develop their analytic and interpretive skills through advanced literary and/or film criticism; to provide an understanding of 20th-century French thought as reflected in cultural expression.
