This subject is offered in external mode, however some on-campus tutorials may be negotiated. The subject is available to all students who possess an undergraduate degree in teaching (ie Bachelor of Education) or other relevant degree or diploma approved by the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Information Technology and the Faculty of Arts, Education and Social Sciences.
ED5914 comprises an individual project which encourages an action-oriented approach to sustainability education. Students will work with university staff and work-based professionals to develop a project that can be used in formal and informal educational settings to foster sustainable behaviour. The project (a) must be sustainability-focused, (b) must be education based, (c) must happen and (d) involves the student in creative leadership.
Learning Outcomes
- awareness of the resources and support that are available in their workplace for fostering sustainable behaviour;
- gain insights into effective strategies for fostering sustainable behaviour in the workplace;
- ability to develop materials that encourage problem-based, action-oriented learning for sustainability;
- demonstrate leadership in implementing sustainability initiatives.
