This subject is offered in external mode, however some on-campus tutorials may be negotiated. The subject is available to all students who possess an undergraduate degree in teaching (ie Bachelor of Education) or other relevant degree or diploma approved by the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Faculty of Arts, Education and Social Sciences.
Co-learning for a Sustainable Future looks at learning through stewardship, partnerships and community engagement in biodiversity conservation, natural resource management decision-making. It explores both formal and informal processes for creating sustainable options for the future and makes explicit links between co-learning, planning and action for sustainability. Students are required to identify and evaluate processes and programs that promote shared learnings, actions and visions for sustainable futures among a range of different organisations and professionals.
Learning Outcomes
- ability to articulate benefits of partnerships in attaining sustainable development goals;
- familiarity with policy frameworks, tools and institutional arrangements to foster partnerships for sustainability;
- ability to evaluate the effectiveness of formal and informal co-learning arrangements for sustainable futures;
- ability to develop cooperative strategies for living with ecological and social change.
