This subject will develop a framework for understanding financing and managing the resources of a business. We will examine crucial decisions such as capital project evaluation and capital structure. We will explore the logic of finance through studying the foundational concepts of risk and return and the time value of money in different contexts. Emphasis will be placed on meshing theory with practical applications to reflect recent developments in finance. Specific knowledge areas include: consumption and investment decision under certainty, valuation, modern portfolio theory, the cost of capital, dividend policy and options.
