Available to graduate students with a degree in Veterinary Science (other appropriately trained graduates may enrol at the discretion of the Director of the Australian Institute of Tropical Veterinary and Animal Science).
Under the direction of the staff member responsible, students will handle and/or review material submitted to the pathology section for diagnosis.
Learning Outcomes
- be familiar with routine techniques and procedures used in diagnostic pathology such as "trimming in" of tissues and uses of special stains;
- conduct postmortem examinations on domestic animals, wildlife, laboratory animals, interpret major gross and microscopic changes and prepare reports on them.
