Credit points: 03
Year: 2010
Student Contribution Band: Band 2
Administered by: Sch Public Health,Trop Medicine&Rehabilitation Sc

Students need to contact the subject coordinator Reinhold.Muller@jcu.edu.au prior to enrolment.

This subject aims to allow students to demonstrate a basic level of skill in research in public health and tropical medicine. The amount of work required is that associated with a 3 unit subject; approximately 120 hours of personal time. A literature review or a report on a research project is generally acceptable. If a literature review of a public health issue is chosen as the topic, to successfully complete the subject, the manuscript must normally be accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. If an original research project of a relevant issue is chosen, the student must negotiate supervision by academic staff within the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, obtain approval of research methodology from the School Research Committee and ethics approval from the JCU Ethics Committee before enrolment. Research reports will be sent for independent assessment.
