TH1710 - Improvisation and Acting Techniques

This subject introduces the student to the specifics of acting as a creative art and to the language of acting and provides them with an understanding of some fundamental acting skills. Students will participate in a series of exercises, improvisations and interactions with partners, learning the essential acting skills such as relaxation, attention and concentration, truth and belief. Students will also work with selected texts.

Learning Outcomes

• Explore the physical properties of texts;
• Give students an experience of applying the techniques learned towards some performance texts;
• Give students the basic skills of acting for theatre.
