This subject will provide students with the opportunity to experience the various roles and responsibilities of exercise physiologists in the treatment, management and care of individuals with cardiopulmonary and metabolic conditions. This subject will provide students with experience in designing, facilitating and evaluating clinical exercise programs; in using equipment and facilities associated with clinical assessing and exercise prescription; and will provide exposure to the roles of exercise physiologists and other medical and allied health professionals in the prevention, treatment and management of cardiopulmonary and metabolic conditions.

Learning Outcomes

• Practical experience with the roles and responsibilities of exercise physiologists with respect to the prevention, treatment and management of cardiopulmonary and metabolic conditions;
• Practical experience with designing, facilitating and evaluating clinical exercise programs and recognizing warning signs and adverse reactions to exercise for clients with cardiopulmonary and metabolic conditions;
• Practical experience with paperwork, communication, team work and policies and procedures associated with clinical exercise physiology service;
• Experience in reflecting and evaluating clinical practice experience.

Special Assessment Requirements:	Students must attend 180 hours of clinical placement activities covering cardiopulmonary and metabolic conditions, and satisfactorily meet set assessment criteria including a satisfactory report from the clinical supervisor(s), a completed logbook and workplace reflection.
