Available to sport and exercise science students, physical education students and other students as approved by the Director of the Institute of Sport and Exercise Science.
This subject is designed to teach students the fundamental principles and practices of strength training and conditioning for sport performance. There is an emphasis on the practical understanding of the design, implementation and instruction of training programs and drills/exercises for sport conditioning.
Learning Outcomes
- To describe the principles and practices of strength training and conditioning for sport performance;
- To understand procedures used in conditioning athletes;
- To understand the principles of periodization training for sport performance;
- To evaluate the physical capacity requirements of a sport or sporting activity.
