Enrolment is restricted to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Speech Pathology, Speech Pathology IHCAP Program and the Bachelor of Speech Pathology Honours Programs.

This subject will provide the theoretical foundation and skill base necessary for competent practice in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment/management of acquired language impairments. Aetiological factors will be described. Theories of language processing will be discussed. Methods of assessment, diagnosis and treatment/management for aphasia and related disorders and cognitive-communication disorders will be described. The effects of aphasia and cognitive-communication disorders on the activities and participation of people with these impairments will also be a focus of discussion.
