This subject focuses on the principles of primary health care and health promotion within a global, international and national context.
Learning Outcomes
- appreciate the importance of social and economic factors in the provision of appropriate health care;
- develop an understanding of the principles of Primary Health Care and Health Promotion within a global, international and national context;
- describe the concepts of modern Primary Health Care and apply them to a wide range of settings and groups;
- describe the principles of Health Promotion and outline strategies suitable for selected health issues in the communities;
- discuss the role of nurses, other health professionals and professionals from outside the health sector in health care planning and delivery within the Primary Health Care framework and critically appraise the potential of Primary Health Care in health care developments of the future.
