This subject introduces students to the emergence of popular cultures and explores the creative contexts that define these cultures. Theories of popular cultures will be examined alongside an exploration of the relationships between visual, sound and performance outputs. Key popular icons will be discussed and future directions relevant to the field examined.

Learning Outcomes

• comprehend connections between key developments of popular culture;
• formulate in-depth understandings of key contemporary information and debates relevant to popular icons and creative outputs.
