This subject introduces students to concepts and theories of conflict and violence, peace and peacebuilding and reconciliation. The course will consider the major actors and strategies being used in Australia and internationally in addressing issues of conflict, reconciliation and peace.

Learning Outcomes

• demonstrated understanding of the theories relevant to conflict & violence; reconciliation & justice; and peace & peace building;
• demonstrated familiarity with current peace building initiatives with a consideration of the United Nations policy framework;
• demonstrated ability to apply the theoretical concepts to practical problems.
