This subject examines the essential principles of corporate financial management in an integrated context. Emphasis is placed on the financial, economic and social environments in which the finance function operates, and on the application of finance concepts to the managerial decision-making process. This latter focus examines the role of finance in supporting the marketing, production and other functional areas of a business enterprise.
Learning Outcomes
- develop an understanding of the fundamental concepts of the finance discipline;
- generate an ability to apply those finance concepts in corporate decision making;
- implement capital investment appraisal exercises;
- understand the principles of the valuation of corporate securities;
- understand the basic principles of the valuation of financial derivatives and appreciate how these instruments are deployed in the financial management of firms.
