Learning Outcomes
- to take students to a level of basic social proficiency (approximately 2 on the ISLPR scale). Students will: be able to interact on a social level with French people, participating in conversations where they are familiar with the context, demonstrate skills of debate and negotiation and comprehend normal speech from electronic sources in familiar contexts; be able to read authentic texts drawn from French media sources and express themselves in writing on a wide range of topics using complex sentences; further develop their acquaintance with various aspects of French culture; and acquire a basic understanding of the history of French literature of the 18th century, study some texts from this period and gain familiarity with terms and aspects of literary criticism.
