The subject focuses on the shaping of curriculum within schools and school systems. Teachers, principals and curriculum coordinators will examine their roles in curriculum construction, implementation and review through a study of relevant literature, education system requirements and their own professional practices. Various conceptualisations of curriculum will be explored alongside practices associated with its implementation and review such as teachers as co-constructors of curriculum, curriculum reform implementation, the role of assessment in curriculum, and stakeholders of curriculum.
Learning Outcomes
- explore and develop conceptualisations of curriculum and identify implications for schools and school systems;
- describe a curriculum issue and its contextual influences;
- critically analyse issues, practices and literature on curriculum construction, implementation and review;
- frame and produce a curriculum project relevant to a school or school system.
