This subject is part of the developmental curriculum for professional experience within the Graduate Diploma of Education program. Preservice teachers are placed in schools and attend for the required number of days during which they complete a range of activities to develop an understanding of the complexities of teachers' roles and demonstrate competence across a range of professional standards as applicable to preservice teachers. Preservice teachers' professional experiences will include the development of teaching and learning activities, management of small and large groups, the meeting of individual and special needs, recognition of diversity and the development of strategies for promoting positive relationships with families and communities. Preservice teachers are required to plan, teach, assess and evaluate a minimum three-week block of teaching within the allocated days. Completion of Wider Professional Experience days is a requirement of this subject and including a focus on Indigenous education or education for sustainability.
