This subject addresses principles and practices related to teaching and learning in the Key Learning Areas of Social and Environmental Education, the Arts and Health and Physical Education and Technology for primary aged children for Years 1-7. Students will be involved in activities that will enable them to develop skills and methods required to teach and integrate concepts with other Key Learning Areas. The subject will explore models of inquiry that promote intellectually challenging learning experiences that promote active citizenship on local and global scales.

Learning Outcomes

• develop and evaluate various teaching methods, materials and ICTs as they relate to primary school age children's learning;
• diagnose, value and respond to different individual learning needs in Social and Environmental education, the Arts, Health and Physical Education, Technology taking into account factors such as gender, ethnicity, age, ability, learning styles, behaviour, social circumstance and culture;
• construct and articulate a personal philosophy, regarding the teaching and learning of social and environmental education, the arts and health and physical education;
• demonstrate an awareness of the content and characteristics of appropriate and socially just social and environmental education, the arts and health and physical education curriculum particularly including Indigenous and global perspectives.
