This subject examines the theoretical and applied aspects of teaching computer studies subjects at the upper primary and junior secondary school levels. It prepares students to teach the Information and Communication Technology in Education subject area syllabus in conjunction with the key learning area Technology Years 1 to 10 syllabus. The subject will include investigation of the rationale for this curriculum are, the nature and design of the syllabus in each area including examples of Queensland and international syllabi. The subject will develop discipline specific lesson and unit planning, assessment and teaching strategies appropriate to Year 10.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate skills in the evaluation and implementation of technological innovations;
- develop and evaluate teaching units, resources and assessment instruments;
- construct and reflect on students own theoretical framework for the teaching of computer studies subjects within the context of the theories and practices which are seen to be effective in encouraging and facilitating learning;
- reflect on student's own framework and apply it to the relevant mandated syllabuses;
- identify and evaluate the curriculum framework, content, processes and skills including different assessment modes.
