In this subject students will develop skills to competently restore and replace decayed tooth structure with direct application of restorative materials, including amalgam and composite resins. In addition, students will develop basic skills in indirect restorative techniques. The replacement of lost teeth with removable appliances remains an important part of dental practice, and an introduction to the materials and techniques involved will be part of this subject. Students will also develop an understanding of the principles of dental radiography, with a specific focus on intra-oral radiography.
