Applications of data acquisition, communication, processing and control are considered over a wide range of fields. Representation of data, types of data, data acquisition through events or sampling, to represent some physical systems, will be described and analysed. Emphasis will be on rapid application development and easy system integration, using modern computer based devices and communications systems. Users will learn how to configure systems for automatic and/or remote operation, including for automatic control environments.Techniques for data reconstruction, analysis and display wil be described and used in practical sessions. The topics will include user programmable methods for configuration in a graphical development environment with built-in functionality. Data sources from Internet or modern serial devices will form a basis of the laboratories. An introduction to a suitable controlling software system will be included, eg LabView and Visual Basic.
