This subject is designed to provide a general introduction to the concepts associated with securing critical computing infrastructure and data communications. It addresses the need for security for both enterprise and personal computing. Legal, ethical and professional issues in information security will also be treated. This subject may include topics such as risk management, physical security, network access controls and cryptography.
Learning Outcomes
- gain a broad understanding of the concepts in information security;
- understand the physical design of security technologies, cryptographic mechanisms and physical security;
- understand the implications for implementation, maintenance and change in security policies and technologies;
- investigate, identify and analyse security threats/requirements;
- plan for security in both small organisations and large scale enterprises.
