Available to Information Technology undergraduate students. It is highly recommended that students take CP3046 in the second last teaching period or trimester of study.
This subject will introduce the various approaches and professional best practice for IT project management. Students will work on a project that involves project scoping, planning, and prototyping in an Information Technology context. The results from CP3046 will be used as a basis for further development in CP3047. In order to have real world context, students are encouraged to select a project from industry, government or the local community. Projects will be developed in teams to provide experience in team management and interpersonal communication skills in a professional context.
Learning Outcomes
- develop a general knowledge of industry standard project management approaches and the ability to evaluate and select appropriate tools and technologies to meet project requirements;
- able to choose and apply the appropriate tools and methods for requirement analysis, defining project scope, risk analysis, and prototyping;
- able to communicate technical information clearly through presentations, demonstrations and documentation;
- develop the ability to critically reflect on progress to tailor self learning goals to advance professional development;
- develop the ability to deal with IT clients in a professional and ethical manner.
