BX3073 - Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies

Credit points: 03
Year: 2010
Student Contribution Band: Band 3
Administered by: School of Business

This subject builds upon the theoretical platform provided in the introductory subject, BU2005 (Entrepreneurship) and applies this knowledge to the area of Indigenous peoples and the emerging markets of developing countries. There is little doubt of the key role entrepreneurship plays as an incubator for self determined and sustainable regional economic development, nor in the predisposition of individuals to participate in entrepreneurial activity. However, the role of the environment (governmental support and facilitating structures) is less clear. So too, is that of the interplay between traditional culture and entrepreneurial predisposition. Entrepreneurship in emerging economies explores this complex nexus with a view to understanding and clarifying these respective roles and their impact on Indigenous entrepreneurship.
