The purpose of this subject is to introduce students to the demand, distribution, delivery and development aspects of tourism. A systems approach is used to explore tourism in the generating, transit and destination regions. This course focuses on the social sciences of tourism, namely geography, economics, psychology and history; as well as the industry's positive and negative social, cultural, economic, and environmental impacts. The subject may include a fieldwork component which will provide a practical understanding of a range of tourism settings.
