This subject is specifically designed for students wishing to study painting techniques and approaches and to develop skills in using a range of painting media.

Learning Outcomes

• to demonstrate understanding of conventional approaches to painting;
• to develop skills in handling paint;
• to explore a wide range of paint mediums;
• to gain practical experience in using different painting techniques;
• to acquire knowledge about pigment and paint properties.

Assessment:	two prescribed folios of paintings (40% each) (80%); research journal (20%) (20%).
Special Assessment Requirements:	In order to establish the authenticity of work submitted for assessment, attendance at practical classes is compulsory. Rolls are kept and work submitted by students with an attendance of less than 80% will not be eligible for assessment unless prior approval has been obtained in writing from the lecturer.
