This subject will provide students with the opportunity to experience the various roles of exercise physiologists in the treatment and care of individuals with cardiovascular and metabolic conditions and will provide exposure to the roles of other team members in rehabilitation processes, referral and communication pathways and medical record systems. Students will have opportunities to observe and work with health professionals during the design, implementation and evaluation phases of clinical exercise programs, and to learn about equipment, facilities and program planning used in clinical exercise physiology.

Learning Outcomes

• Students will develop proficiency in the analysis and conduct of professional practice in clinical exercise physiology;
• Students will understand the professional obligations and implications of clinical exercise physiology practice including codes of conduct, ethical responsibilities, mentoring, responsible reporting, legal implications, interpersonal relationships, leadership, client privacy, client consent, confidentiality and referral;
• Students will complete a working portfolio based on their clinical experience.

Special Assessment Requirements:	Students must attend 180 hours of clinical placement activities covering cardiovascular and metabolic conditions, and satisfactorily meet set assessment criteria including a satisfactory report from the clinical supervisor(s), a completed logbook and workplace reflection.
