This subject is restricted to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Physiotherapy IHCAP Program and the Bachelor of Physiotherapy Honours Program.
This subject will expose students to aspects of clinical reasoning as it relates to physiotherapy practice. Students will develop skills to enhance their interactions with patients. Students will gain knowledge and skills in the use of various physiotherapeutic applications. Issues of safety and the evidence base for the interventions will be emphasised. Successful completion of this subject will provide students with foundation skills required for future clinical practice experiences.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate safety and competence in the application of selected physiotherapy modalities, treatment and assessment techniques;
- demonstrate sound clinical reasoning skills as they relate to physiotherapy management of basic musculoskeletal disorders;
- apply general theoretical knowledge from scientific disciplines (anatomy, physiology) and evidence from professional literature to inform the management plan for specific musculoskeletal disorders;
- integration of physiotherapy assessment and treatment skills into specific physiotherapy clinical scenarios.
