PP3201 - Contemporary Research in Physiology
Credit points: | 03 |
Year: | 2009 |
Student Contribution Band: | Band 4 |
Administered by: | School of Veterinary & Biomedical Sciences |
This subject will build upon the basic and theoretical concepts taught in other physiology subjects. Students will learn about the array of technologies and methods currently employed in monitoring/quantitating physiological processes and the application of these methods to solve physiological problems. The emphasis of this subject will be on current research issues in physiology.
Learning Outcomes
- students will be able to describe a range of experimental methods suitable for in vitro and in vivo research in physiology;
- students will be able to state the advantages and disadvantages of these experimental methods;
- students will be able to choose an appropriate experimental method for the measurement of particular physiological parameters;
- students will obtain hands-on experience in selected experimental physiological methods; collect, analyse and interpret data in the context of the current physiological literature.
