Students must be employed minimum 0.6FTE in a Cardiac/Coronary Care Unit for the duration of this subject
This subject will build on the students previous learning in the subject Ns5801. Subject content increases in complexity and students will have the opportunity to apply theoretical and practical nursing knowledge to patients with complex cardiac conditions. Students will also be introduced to advanced practices such as the management of patients following cardiac surgery, or requiring advanced technological intervention.
Learning Outcomes
- apply advanced knowledge and skills to implement and evaluate contemporary cardiac nursing practice in relation to patient and family-centred care;
- apply an advanced problem-solving approach to plan and implement individualised nursing care for patients with a complex cardiac condition;
- demonstrate assessment and advanced monitoring of patients with cardiac problems, within the context of a technological environment.
