Students will focus on the distinction between the performance artist and the actor and examine the idea of alternative space as the artist's stage. Students will work solo or in groups to present the unorthodox and the unexpected. Research work on contemporary performance artists including Annie Sprinkle, Karen Finley, Gilbert and George, Laurie Anderson and others will provide students with contextual frameworks to site their own performances.
