MA1003 - Mathematical Techniques

Derivatives of parametric functions; inverse functions and their derivatives; inverse trigonometric functions; hyperbolic functions; differentials; Newtons method; induction; convergence with simple test criteria; power series; complex numbers; numerical integration; basic integration techniques; separable and linear first order differential equations; second order differential equations with constant coefficients.

Learning Outcomes

• to provide the opportunity for students to consider further elementary mathematical topics. Applications include examples drawn from the chemical, biological and environmental sciences. Computer software is used to assist with associated calculations.

Prerequisites:	(Senior Maths B or MA1020) and MA1000 or admission to 46110 or 46210 or 50110M or 50810. MA1000 allow concurrent enrolment.
