James Cook University Subject Handbook - 2009

JN3300 - Industry Internship

Credit points: 03
Year: 2009
Student Contribution Band: Band 1
Administered by: School of Arts & Social Sciences

Students enrolling in this subject must consult with the subject co-ordinator, who will be responsible for organising a suitable placement.

This subject introduces students to work-integrated learning. After early-semester weekly seminars prepare and educate professional practice skills, JN3300 students take up industry placements to gain valuable hands-on experience. Internships require professional relationships between each student and the organisation in which they are placed, as they work to meet their obligations under negotiated agreements. Interns write or otherwise produce publishable work, providing important material for resumes after graduation. In the later part of semester, JN3300 seminars enable students to showcase and analyse their experiences in the workplace.
