Available only to students enrolled in Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) [33506S O 33506] and Master of Teaching (Secondary) [34604B O 34604]. Must be completed with or before ED5218.

This subject has been designed to equip pre-service teachers with the necessary knowledge and competencies to teach secondary curriculum areas to Year 9. The subject will include fundamentals of and current debates in, curriculum design. Teaching areas offered align with Key Learning Areas-KLAs (English, Social Science, Science, Health and Physical Education, Mathematics, Technologies, ARTS and LOTE). Students will select two KLAs. The subject will include investigation of the rationale for each subject area, the nature and design of the curriculum frameworks in each area including examples of Queensland and international jurisdictions. The subject will develop discipline specific lesson and unit planning, assessment and teaching strategies appropriate to Year 9. This subject will include 5 days of professional experience.
