This subject focuses on current and future developments in diverse educational, social and environmental contexts and their significance for beginning teachers. Taking an inquiry project approach to learning and teaching, the subject positions pre-service teachers to engage with community stakeholders as contributiing organisations in producing innovative educational resources that will build skills and knowledge for social and environmental sustainability.

- Work effectively with the profession and the community;
- Critically assess the implications of teacher professional standards for building knowledge and skills for social and environmental sustainability;
- Develop strategies for collaborative planning and project implementation;
- Know and contribute to community stakeholder organisations and professional networks that respond to the changing role of schools in society; and support life-wide learning.
