This subject prepares preservice teachers for a range of professional roles within the classroom, school and wider community. Preservice teachers will investigate a range of curriculum theories and develop models of integrated curriculum. The subject will draw extensively upon school-based activities to explore the relationship between theory, policy and practice. Preservice teachers will critically examine school assessment and reporting practices and relate these to the broader role of schools in communities, including assumptions. This subject also supports the preparation of a professional portfolio. Specifically for Secondary preservice teachers, this subject explores the policies surrounding mass secondary education and an examination of strategies to support student engagement.
