This subject is an introduction to teaching young children through the ARTS which comprises five(5) strands - Visual Arts (Media and Visual Art) and Performing Arts (Dance, Drama, Music). Students will have opportunities to engage in and reflect upon the range of Arts learning experiences, develop skills to facilitate Active Learning Processes and extend the influence of the arts throughout schools and their communities.
Learning Outcomes
- to critically explore trends in Arts education philosophy and practice;
- to engage in motivating and inclusive learning experiences which integrate Active Learning Processes and other learning, exploring a variety of appropriate media and pedagogical tools;
- students will become aware of the unique ways of learning and knowing, which the Arts provide, as well as their strengths as sources of rich learning self esteem, social and cultural significance, communication, literacy and creative problem solving.
