Available to students who have completed a BSc from James Cook University in any major incorporating a Science specialisation other than Geology, or an equivalent qualification from another institution.
Studies may be completed in any Earth Science discipline in which the school has expertise and resources: environmental geochemistry; mineral chemistry; hydrology; marine science; Quaternary studies and landscape evolution and rehabilitation. Interdisciplinary studies involving schools additional to Earth Science may be formulated as appropriate to the interests of individual students. Candidates may enrol to commence study at the beginning of either Teaching Period 1 or 2. The subject includes: a field and/or laboratory based thesis involving original research work; additional study at level 4, specialised reading and discussion, which includes the completion of specific assignments.
